This tea from our heritage Makaibari estate in Darjeeling is a favourite of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. It was gifted to her by the honourable Prime Minister of India on his visit to Buckingham Palace in 2015. The uniqueness of this Makaibari Darjeeling Black tea is in its creation - it is grown biodynamically - surrounded by forests that feed its flavour. It is then plucked ceremonially, to the tune of a cosmic calendar, dictated by the rhythms of the sun and the moon.
Tasting Notes: Fresh, delicate, floral, astringent with hints of peach.

The Estate: From the iconic Makaibari Tea Estate in Darjeeling, comes the Summer Solstice tea also termed as the second flush. Amidst pristine Himalayan forests, this Darjeeling Makaibari tea is grown in harmony with the nature surrounding it. The leaves are harvested at dawn during May - June. The resulting cup is light, soothing and delicate with a fresh yet intense aroma.

This tea blend honours Gordon Smith, Chairman of the historic Moran Tea Company. His family founded the company and lived in the Moran Burra Bungalow for generations. About The Tea: The strength in the cup originates from one of our top-quality upper ASSAM estates, while the flavour comes from our heritage tea estate in the Darjeeling hills. The idea of the English Breakfast tea traces back to the 13th century and the country houses of the gentry. About The Tea: A potent, refreshing ASSAM black tea with notes of citrus, mint and malt. Earl Grey is named after the British Prime Minister - Charles, the second Earl Grey (1764 - 1845). Having made various notable political contributions including the Slavery Abolition Act of 1833, he is most well known throughout history for the Earl Grey tea bearing his name. It is claimed that he received a gift of tea which was flavoured with the oil of bergamot, among many other legendary origin stories.
