Bright, brisk and golden cups from the finest tea estates in Western Rwanda - Gisovu, Pfunda and Rugabano.                                 

The 'Silverback Blend' gets its name from the majestic Silverback Gorillas found in the prehistoric Nyungwe forest in Rwanda. The Gisovu and Pfunda estates border this pristine forest which is also an hour's drive from the source of the ancient river Nile.

Tasting Notes: Rich, buttery, nutty & with hints of red currant.

Gisovu Estate: Our teas are grown in three estates in the Western Province of Rwanda, also known as ‘the land of a thousand hills.Gisovu grows tea at elevations of 8100 feet, making them some of the highest grown teas in the world, while Pfunda grows its tea lower down in the wetlands. The diverse elevation, microclimatic conditions and the volcanic soils come together to bring you a unique cup of tea. This golden buttery brew is the long-lasting taste of Rwandan Highlands and some of the finest tea in Africa.

Finely twisted Assam orthodox tea leaves from our Moran Tea Estate that focuses on quality, the environment and ethics. 

This tea blend honours Gordon Smith, Chairman of the historic Moran Tea Company. His family founded the company and lived in the Moran Burra Bungalow for generations. He was a fixture of tea estate life in Dibrugarh doing untiring work for the plantations as well as social-educational work for the neighbouring townsfolk. This Assam Orthodox Tea India blend is a tribute to the Smiths’ legacy since 1864.

Tasting Notes: Bold, malty, sweet caramel with hints of chocolate.

The Estate: The Assam Moran Estate is part of the Moran circle - a group of ten or so tea estates including, Sepon, Dirai, Attabarie and Lepetkatta- which make the strongest Assam orthodox teas, prized around the world. The plantations grow quality-clones and the Broadleaf Assam Jat, giving it a distinct 'malty' character. This Assam orthodox tea blend is a selection of finely plucked and orthodox processed Assam long leaf tea, giving you a dark and aromatic cup.

The produce of this Victorian-era estate in Assam is blended with aromatic Indian spices to form a fusion of traditions. A bright brisk liquor with the typical body of tea or and distinct taste notes of pepper, ginger and cinnamon.

Addabarie Estate: The Assam Masala chai blend is an ode to the humble ginger and long conversations savoured over endless cups of tea. Addabarie has two different folk legends that throw light on its unusual name. The first traces back to wild ginger or 'adda' that once grew in abundance in the gardens. The second - that a river running through the estate was a popular gathering spot, or ‘adda’ for country boats. Either way, whether ginger or a gathering - Assam Masala tea is its perfect accompaniment.

The bountiful estate produces 2 million kilos of Assam CTC tea annually and every ounce is forward booked ahead of the cup. It is Rajasthan’s favourite strong chai - a royal connection that has lasted decades.
